MGM Casting Seminar

MGM Casting Director PAUL WEBER will conduct a seminar on Sunday,  March 21, 2010, @ 10:00 AM. Weber heads up the casting division of MGM Worldwide television and is an MGM feature casting consultant.  His credits include DEAD LIKE ME (Showtime), STARGATE (Sci Fi Network), FLASHPOINT (CBS), PICTURE THIS, LEGALLY BLONDES starring Ashley Tisdale, WAR GAMES II, and INTO THE BLUE 2 (MGM Home Entertainment), THE INITIATION OF SARAH, and CUTTING EDGE, (ABC) and HAUNTING ON SORORITY ROW starring Leighton Meester (Lifetime).

At MGM, Mr. Weber is also active in development on new series, pilots, and features.  Current MGM projects in development or newly released include FAME, Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS 3D a remake of THE THREE STOOGES starring Sean Penn and Jim Carrey, and other features starring Kevin James, John Cusack, and Denzel Washington.

Mr. Weber also casts 3 –5 independent features a year with recent credits including TABLE FOR THREE starring Sophia Bush and Brandon Routh (SUPERMAN), LAZARUS CHILD starring Andy Garcia and Angela Bassett, and OZZIE, a family film starring Spencer Breslin.  Weber is also a producer with such credits as HOLLYWOOD NORTH starring Sir Alan Bates, Matthew Modine, and Jennifer Tilly.  He is also the US casting consultant for the CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation).

Mr. Weber teaches workshops worldwide and the course “The Working Actor, Get the Audition, Book the Job” at UCLA.  He is a member of the Casting Society of America.

Workshops

Adult Workshop $257.55 Child Workshop $128.93

ADULT ON-CAMERA - This workshop offers an opportunity for actors to craft their on-camera skills.  Students will work with REAL feature film, TV commercial, PLUS web & corporate scripts. Everyone appears on-camera in every class and each student will take home a video of all on-camera performances. The 6-week class meets on Wed. nights 6 - 8 PM.

Next workshop starts late Spring, 2010!

YOUNG PEOPLE ON-CAMERA - This is an all-day, one- day workshop, taught by Casting Director Heather Laird. Students will be videotaped performing film,TV, and commercial scripts, and then perform a showcase for parents at the end of the day. Everyone takes home a copy of their work.  All Day Saturday.

ACTING FOR THE CAMERA - This advanced adult workshop focuses on scenes from Feature Films & Television. Students will block, rehearse, & perform “on set”, while being taped. The two-camera setup & on-site editing equipment will allow live tapings, much like a soap opera.  At the end of the course, each student will receive a final, edited version of their scenes. NEXT CLASS offered is a two-day, all-day workshop, on two consecutive Saturdays.
